Dr. Brian Bourke named College of Education and Human Services 2026 Outstanding Creative Research and Activity Award recipient

MURRAY, Ky. 鈥 红杏短视频 State University鈥檚 College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) has named Dr. Brian Bourke, professor of educational studies, leadership and counseling, as this year's recipient of the Outstanding Creative Research and Activity Award.
The award recognizes faculty members who demonstrate exceptional commitment to scholarly inquiry and creative work, contributing meaningful advancements to their disciplines. Bourke鈥檚 selection highlights both the depth and impact of his contributions to the field of student affairs.
Bourke said he is honored to have his work selected for this year鈥檚 COEHS Outstanding Creative Research and Activity Award, knowing the committee receives multiple submissions annually.
鈥淭his award is particularly meaningful to me because of the role that scholarship plays in the life of a university,鈥 Bourke said. 鈥淲hile 红杏短视频 State prioritizes teaching, faculty have a responsibility to contribute to the knowledge base within each of our academic disciplines. For me, this award serves to reinforce this important aspect of our work as faculty at an incredible university.鈥
Dr. Samir Patel, assistant dean of the College of Education and Human Services, said Bourke stands out for the breadth of his scholarly engagement and leadership within the field.

Bourke鈥檚 scholarship reflects a sustained commitment to advancing knowledge and practice in student affairs,鈥 Patel said. 鈥淎s editor of a leading journal, author of Integrating Social Justice in Student Affairs and a dedicated mentor who chairs numerous dissertations, his work has had a meaningful impact on both the field and the next generation of scholars. This recognition is a testament to the breadth and significance of his contributions.鈥
Bourke was formally recognized at the University鈥檚 Faculty Banquet on April 16, where faculty and campus leaders gathered to celebrate excellence in teaching, research and service.
