Requirements for admission

Students wishing to pursue the Music Business major will be admitted initially to the degree program when they have taken MUS 109 (with a minimum grade of C) and MUS 230 (with a minimum grade of B), and earned at least a 2.50 overall GPA. To be admitted to candidacy (400-level Music Business courses including internships), students must have at least at 2.50 GPA overall and must have successfully completed MUS 332 (Marketing in the Music Business) and MUS 333 (Live Performance and Concert Promotion).

This degree does not require an instrumental or vocal audition.  Students can begin the degree with or without previous musical experience.  Those who have had previous formal musical training will have the opportunity to audition in order to begin applied lessons in their first semester.

Music business internships

Students are required to gather in-person experience in the music business industry with two internships (MUS 488 & MUS 489).
